ROATAN ODYSSEY BY ANNE JENNINGS BROWN

ABOUT THE BOOK
Texan adventurer Howard Jennings plucks Anne from her quiet village life in England and convinces her not only to marry him but to uproot to the idyllic island of Roatan. Despite her better judgement, Anne packs her bags and meagre finances, and leaves her two children at boarding school. The newlyweds plan to build a house or two on Roatan to fund moving back to England, and a bigger house for them all.

But plans so neatly made in the UK begin to fall apart as soon as they land and it becomes clear that Anne’s funds are tied up by Howard, whose intentions are not what they first seemed. Anne must learn self reliance and self belief in this foreign country where friends are plentiful but can disappear at any moment.
Living alone in secluded Port Royal, accessible only by sea, Anne’s most faithful companion is Moller, a resident ghost (or ‘duppy’ as he is known to the locals). According to local folklore, duppies guard the sites of hidden treasure, although Mollers’ pearls of wisdom provide a more profound discovery for Anne.
